                                          Covenant of Membership
                                          I, having made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and sensing a “kindred spirit” with this local gathering of believers at Goshen Congregational Church, desire to become a member
                                          and to add my unique S.H.A.P.E. to help them fulfill their purpose and mission.
                                           “Theirs” will become “Ours” and I will, to the best of my ability and
                                          by the enabling of the Holy Spirit:


                                          1.  Value and promote the unity of Goshen Congregational Church by:
                                               a.   Applying love and grace towards my brothers and sisters in Christ.
                                                          (I Peter 1:22)
                                               b.  Refusing to gossip and/or verbally tear one another down.
                                                         (Ephesians 4:29)
                                               c.  Following the Christ centered example of those called to lead.
                                                        (Hebrews 13:17, Acts 6:5)
                                               d. 
                                          Personally attempting to resolve conflicts that arise quickly and  
                                                    biblically. (Matthew 18:15-17)
                                          2.  Share in the nurturing of Goshen Congregational Church by:
                                                 a.  Praying earnestly for its growth. (I Thessalonians 1:2) 
                                                 b.  Attending faithfully and giving regularly in support of its ministry.      
                                                    (Hebrews 10:25, I Corinthians 16:2)
                                                 c.  Developing personal habits and practices that keep me growing in my
                                                   spiritual faith and walk not only in/for my church but in/for my family.
                                                  (Ephesians 4:22-24)

                                          3.  Strengthen the testimony of Goshen Congregational Church and   
                                               encourage its growth by:
                                                  a.  Sharing my faith with others as the Holy Spirit leads. (I Peter 3:15)
                                               b.  Inviting others to worship with us. (Luke 14:23)
                                               c.  Living a godly life that exemplifies my Christian faith and strengthens
                                                    the testimony of this church. (Ephesians 4:1, Colossians 1:10)

                                          4.  Personally work to bring about the fulfillment of it’s purpose, 
                                               mission, vision and goals by:
                                               a.  Discovering and using my Spiritual gifts and unique talents.
                                                   (I Peter 4:10)
